Bronze Sony Award for BBC Radio Sheffield

sony-awards-2008800.jpgBBC Radio Sheffield  scored a Bronze Award at the recent Sony Radio Academy Awards in London on May 12th at the Grosvenor Hotel. Andy Kershaw was nominated for the Sony Community Award for his role in the BBC Radio Sheffield Good Neighbour Appeal for vicitms of the 2007 floods in South Yorkshire.

Kate Linderholm won a Bronze Award for her Documentary about the floods for BBC Radio Sheffield.

Andy says: ” It was a cracking good night mixing with some of the UK’s Radio legends and my own radio hero’s.

“I managed to schmooze a bit with the likes of Chris Moyles,  Colin Murray, Tony Blackburn, Christopher ‘King of the Jungle’ Biggins and Sarah Green ex-Blue Peter presenter. I aslo managed to meet one of my all time news hero’s and veteran war correspondent from ITN Mike Nicholson”.

“Al Murray was a great sport and I even got Jonathon Ross to chat to my wife Carol back in Sheffield on the phone in one of those surreal moment, says Andy”.   Ah well there’s always next year and well done to Kate Linderholm and all the winners at the 2008 Sony’s.
