Goats on Sheffield’s Allotments

This amusing package produced by Andy for the breakfast show on BBC Radio Sheffield, tells the tale of how one local allotment society has resorted to enticing new allotment holders by offering the use of a goat to help trim down the undergrowth on unuded allotments. It’s a novel way of getting people to take up allotments as a lifestyle and a way of ‘growing your own’ produce’.
See if you can detect a certain Wallace & Gromit’ element in the voice of one of the contributors. It made us all laugh here!

Tackling Bullying & Conflict in Sheffield Schools

This is a piece which Andy produced for the BBC Radio Sheffield Breakfast Show to illustrate how bullying and conflict is being tackled in Sheffield Schools as part of the work of CRESST (Conflict Resolution Education in Sheffield Schools) It’s led by the wonderful Cheryl Smart and Andy went along to a special assembly at Arbourthorne School in Sheffield to meet some young Peer Mediators who help to prevent conflict among their young peers. They are trained by CRESST to recognize, understand and deal with conflict. Andy spoke to 11 year olds Madison Hunter and Georgie Mitchell who are two of the mediators. He also recorded some of the young mediators performing a role play to illustrate some of the different scenarios from which conflict might arise at school. It was amazing. 700 of them have now been trained to do this !!
