Examples of Andy’s compering work
in June 2007 Andy compered a huge event for The Rotherham Partnership at the Magna Science and Adventure Centre in Rotherham South Yorkshire entitled, ‘The Future of Rotherham’ to launch the town’s Community Strategy.
It was a vibrant, fun and stimulating day attended by around 700 people who live or work in Rotherham as well as partners from the region and nationally, including two senior civil servants,Richard McCarthy and Jon Bright.
As part of the Future of Conference, the Partnership celebrated excellence with the announcement of the winners of the “Excellence in Community Achievement” Awards. Winners were presented with an award for their hard work in making a difference within local neighbourhoods and communities.
The event, was a huge success. It outlined the borough’s new Community Strategy – a document mapping out how the town will be shaped over the next five years – and the 2020 vision, which shows how the borough should be shaped for the year 2020. The event also showed how organisations across Rotherham are working together to change people’s lives.
Speakers included Julie A Kenny CBE, Chair of the Rotherham Partnership; Roger Stone, Leader of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Vice Chair of the Rotherham Partnership; Richard McCarthy,
Director General of the Sustainable Communities Group from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister;
Andre Bester, Chief Executive and head coach of Earth Titans Rugby Club Rotherham ; and Chris Rea OBE of
The borough’s highly successful AES Engineering Limited.
Local BBC Radio Sheffield Presenter Andy Kershaw compered the event.
